Trip Overview 📌
This Adventure Society expedition explores Mount Washington’s legendary hut system through trail running and fast hiking across the Presidential Range. Designed for experienced, physically active members, this journey moves through exposed ridgelines, alpine terrain, and some of the most unpredictable weather on Earth. It’s an intentional, skills-forward experience that emphasizes resilience, navigation, endurance, and low-impact travel—bringing a small, curated group together in one of the Northeast’s most iconic mountain environments.
Itinerary 🏔️
Dates: Thursday, September 10 - Sunday, September 13, 2026
Over three days, we’ll travel hut-to-hut along high-alpine routes, linking historic AMC huts across rugged terrain and exposed summits. Daily movement will include trail running, fast hiking, and time focused on mountain awareness, pacing, and decision-making in dynamic conditions. The rhythm of the trip balances sustained effort with moments of rest, reflection, and shared meals—allowing the group to move efficiently while staying connected and adaptable.
Thursday: Depart from New York (time will be adjusted depending on the group, but preferably departing no later than 3:00 pm)
Friday: Hiking
Saturday: Hiking
Sunday: Return back to New York in the early afternoon
Accommodation ⛺
Each night will be spent at historic Appalachian Mountain Club huts, offering simple, high-mountain refuge deep in the White Mountains. These remote lodges provide meals, shelter, and a rare opportunity to disconnect from the modern world while staying immersed in the alpine landscape. Sleeping arrangements are communal, reinforcing the expedition-style nature of the experience and the shared responsibility of traveling through demanding terrain.
