Mental Endurance in Ultra Running & Leadership with Julie Kheyfets

Join us for an exclusive Fireside Chat with Julie Kheyfets, the CEO of Block Renovation, ultramarathon runner, and all-around force of nature. Julie thrives at the intersection of endurance and entrepreneurship, whether she’s leading a fast-growing renovation startup in New York City or running 246 kilometers across Greece in the legendary Spartathlon. Her story is one of grit, recovery, and finding strength in the seemingly impossible.

Evening Overview 📌

  • 🎤 Exclusive chat with Julie Kheyfets — CEO of Block Renovation & ultramarathoner

  • 🏃‍♀️ Exploring the mental side of running 100+ mile races

  • 💡 Parallels between endurance sports and startup leadership

  • 🧠 Lessons on resilience, recovery, and mindset

  • 🗓 Unique networking opportunity with Adventure Society members

  • 🍻 Drinks & appetizers will be served

  • 🚙 Get a glimpse of the Rivian lineup and register for a test drive

About the Event 📋

Our October Fireside Chat features Julie Kheyfets, a fearless leader who embodies what it means to push limits — in sport and in business. As the CEO of Block Renovation, she’s scaling an AI-first platform transforming the $500B home renovation market. As an ultra-runner, she’s completed races few dare attempt — including the 246km Spartathlon in Greece.

This conversation dives into the mental side of endurance: what it takes to keep moving when your body wants to quit, how the lessons from the trail translate to leading high-performance teams, and why curiosity, optimism, and user-obsession are key to both finishing ultras and building lasting companies.

We’ll explore:

  • The psychological strategies behind completing extreme endurance events

  • How long-distance running shapes decision-making under pressure

  • The connection between recovery, leadership, and sustainability

  • What drives someone to choose “hard” again and again

The Fireside Chat series is the Adventure Society’s monthly gathering designed to bring members & guests together in a relaxed, inspiring environment. Hosted inside Rivian's beautiful Meatpacking showroom, it’s an evening of storytelling, shared energy, and new connections with others who thrive at the edge of adventure and ambition.

Special thanks to Rivian New York for hosting us in their beautiful showroom. 🙌🏻

Grand Canyon Ultra Trail Run

This will be an epic trip that is not to be missed!

Grand Canyon Ultra Trail Running Trip | October 9 - 12, 2025

The Adventure Society is a social club for NYC's physically active business & community leaders. Helping you Thrive in the Wild, by building stronger leaders through mindful movement and meaningful connections. Our trips are organized with a curated group of subject matter experts, thought leaders, and those that are adventurous at heart.

Trip Overview 📌

Embark on the ultimate trail-running challenge with a Rim to Rim to Rim (R2R2R) adventure in the Grand Canyon. Reserved for experienced long-distance runners, this self-supported journey spans approximately 42–47 miles with over 11,000 feet of elevation gain. We’ll traverse from the South Rim to the North Rim and back, immersing ourselves in the awe-inspiring beauty of one of the world’s natural wonders.

Expect steep switchbacks, dramatic vistas, and diverse terrain, from the lush greenery of the canyon floor to the rugged, arid cliffs above. This extraordinary route demands not only physical endurance but also careful planning and preparation, as the remote environment adds an extra layer of challenge. It’s a test of grit, a celebration of nature, and an unforgettable experience for those ready to push their limits.

The Route: R2R2R  🗺️

Widely considered a bucket-list goal for trail runners, the R2R2R (Double Crossing) is a challenge only the boldest pursue. Whether you're an experienced trail runner or an ambitious hiker, we’ve designed this adventure to push your limits and inspire your soul.

There are different routes to achieve this, however, we will take South Kaibab, North Kaibab, Bright Angel, following in the legendary footsteps of Jim Walmsley, who set a jaw-dropping 5:55:20 record here in 2016.

🏜️ South to North to South | South Kaibab → North Kaibab Trails → Bright Angel

  • 43.2 miles

  • 11,443 feet total vertical ascent

Elevation gain over the entire route
