Adirondacks Trail Running / Hiking Trip | September 12 - 14, 2025

The Adventure Society is a social club for NYC's physically active business & community leaders. Helping you Thrive in the Wild, by building stronger leaders through mindful movement and meaningful connections. Our trips are organized with a curated group of subject matter experts, thought leaders, and those that are adventurous at heart.

Trip Overview 📌

Summit 3 of the Adirondack's 46 high mountain peaks, while spending the time connecting with your peers and nature. We will depart in the morning and run/hike to the summit(s). Then enjoy the rest of the day swimming in Heart Lake, sharing stories, exploring the Adirondacks, and enjoying the comforts of the Loj.

We will divide into groups of runners/hikers. We do not expect everyone to have the fitness of Kilian Jornet, but the most important thing is that you come prepared to conquer this challenge and give it your all.

Grand Canyon Ultra Trail Running Trip | October 9 - 12, 2025

The Adventure Society is a social club for NYC's physically active business & community leaders. Helping you Thrive in the Wild, by building stronger leaders through mindful movement and meaningful connections. Our trips are organized with a curated group of subject matter experts, thought leaders, and those that are adventurous at heart.

Trip Overview 📌

Embark on the ultimate trail-running challenge with a Rim to Rim to Rim (R2R2R) adventure in the Grand Canyon. Reserved for experienced long-distance runners, this self-supported journey spans approximately 42–47 miles with over 11,000 feet of elevation gain. We’ll traverse from the South Rim to the North Rim and back, immersing ourselves in the awe-inspiring beauty of one of the world’s natural wonders.

Expect steep switchbacks, dramatic vistas, and diverse terrain, from the lush greenery of the canyon floor to the rugged, arid cliffs above. This extraordinary route demands not only physical endurance but also careful planning and preparation, as the remote environment adds an extra layer of challenge. It’s a test of grit, a celebration of nature, and an unforgettable experience for those ready to push their limits.

The Route: R2R2R  🗺️

Widely considered a bucket-list goal for trail runners, the R2R2R (Double Crossing) is a challenge only the boldest pursue. Whether you're an experienced trail runner or an ambitious hiker, we’ve designed this adventure to push your limits and inspire your soul.

There are different routes to achieve this, however, we will take South Kaibab, North Kaibab, Bright Angel, following in the legendary footsteps of Jim Walmsley, who set a jaw-dropping 5:55:20 record here in 2016.

🏜️ South to North to South | South Kaibab → North Kaibab Trails → Bright Angel

  • 43.2 miles

  • 11,443 feet total vertical ascent

Elevation gain over the entire route

Itinerary 🏃

(This is our proposed itinerary, but open to modifying with the group attending)

Dates: Thursday, October 9 - Sunday, October 13, 2025

  • Thursday: Depart New York City and travel to Phoenix, AZ. We can discuss alternative locations to fly into, i.e. Flagstaff or Las Vegas, as there is a balance between distance needed to drive and price.

  • Friday or Saturday: Depart from the South Kaibab Trailhead at 4:00 AM. ETA for completing the entire route is between 9 - 12 hours. Return back to the Bright Angels Trailhead

  • Sunday: Return back to New York

  • Rest Day: Depending on when we decide to complete the route, Friday or Saturday, we can use the other day to rest (possibly recover) and hike around the area.

Accommodation ⛺

We will be staying at one of the hotels in the Grand Canyon Village, either the Yavapai Lodge, Bright Angel Lodge or Maswick Lodge.

All Meals will be included, but please bring your preferred snacks/energy for the run.
